Kreasi Baru

For the third time in 12 years, I was part of a gamelan performance this past Sunday (the second was at an ethnomusicology conference at Cornell in April).

This time, among several traditional pieces, we performed an experimental composition that fused Javanese gamelan with Persian classical music.  It mixed gamelan, viola, and vocal arrangements, all composed an arranged by Jessica Kenney — a Seattle based musician — and Chris Miller.

It feels good to be back, to gamelan.
